About the MDA

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.

Funds raised at Winter Wine Down will be used to support a comprehensive patient services program for our clients in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Program services include:

• Flu shots
• Clinic visits
• Support group sessions
• Physical, occupational and speech therapy sessions
• Durable medical equipment repairs
• Week-long summer camp for kids, ages 6-17

MDA expends 76% of its program income on its client services and research programs. MDA is the first nonprofit organization recognized by the American Medical Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award “for significant and lasting contributions to the health and welfare of humanity.”
